BeyonceOnline.org received a review copy of the "Beyoncegraphica" biography by Chris Roberts that was announced in July. As the book hits stores today, we share our thoughts on the release. Head over to Amazon to buy the book now!

Just like a proper biography, "Beyoncegraphica" describes the history of Beyonce's life and career, but what's distinctive about it is that it contains graphs and charts. They are used to present almost everything that you can think of: music sales and streaming, charts, awards, profits, social media followers, charity activities. However, we're not just flooded with numbers and cold facts, we can find out how many costume changes Beyonce had each tour, how many people named their children after her, what's in her tour rider, the significance of the number 4 and many, many more. What is more, many graphs compare Beyonce to other artist so we can see how influential she actually is compared to others. In the text part of the book, we can find many quotes, from Beyonce, her family and co-workers to fellow artists and industry people. Not only does the book detail her history, but it also shows her influence. Additionally, it is filled with pictures.

In my opinion, "Beyoncegraphica" is very appealing considering its focus on visuals. The information that are well-known are presented in a new and interesting way. I would definitely recommend reading it, whether you're new to the BeyHive or you know Beyonce's history by heart.
Celebrities are not finished helping the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and Reese Witherspoon are among those set to participate in a multi-network telethon, Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief, to assist those affected by the devastating storm. Hand in Hand will air Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. (live ET/delayed PT) on ABC, CBS, CMT, FOX and NBC.

Houston native rapper Bun B teamed up with SB Projects founder Scooter Braun to present Hand in Hand, a one-hour special based in Los Angeles "with stages in New York, Nashville and a special performance by Country Music icon and Texas native George Strait from his San Antonio benefit concert."

George Clooney, Karlie Kloss, Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts, Kelly Rowland, Blake Shelton, Barbra Streisand and more also are set to participate.

Proceeds from the telethon will benefit United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children and more organizations.
JAY-Z gave Beyoncé a birthday treat fit for a queen on Sunday night when he lead a massive crowd at Philadelphia’s Made in America festival through a sweet song in honor of his wife turning the big 3-6.

The 47-year-old rap icon paused midway through his headlining set to shout out Bey, who danced in the stands nearby while standing next to her former Destiny’s Child bandmate Michelle Williams. Clad in a sequined shirt and sunglasses, the “Formation” singer seemed genuinely touched by the display of affection.

It was a Knowles family reunion at the festival, which also featured performances from Beyoncé’s sister Solange. Proud mama Tina Knowles-Lawson attended the performance to cheer her daughters on. She also posed for a photo with Bey, which she shared on social media with an emotional caption for her birthday.

“36 years ago God Chose me out of all the women in the world to be your mother!” she wrote. “How blessed could i be ? Not because you are a super talented , smart business woman and one of the biggest superstars! Its because you are the kindest most generous , thoughtful , intuitive , loyal , humble , funny , grounded, grateful and loving human being. I am proud to be your mom. Happy Birthday Baby! I love you with my whole heart.”

Serena Williams has reportedly welcomed her first child, a girl, with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian Friday (Sept. 1), and Beyoncé was ready to wish her congratulations.

The singer shared a photo of the tennis player in a flowing white dress, posing regally with one hand cupped on her belly. The photo, taken from William's photo shoot for the September issue of Vogue, was customized by Beyoncé's team with the words "Congratulations Serena!"
Students at Copenhagen University are being offered classes on Beyoncé.

Already 75 students at the university - which dates back more than 530 years - have signed up for the course.

The class, entitled “Beyoncé, Gender and Race” will be taught in much the same way as other cultural courses such as opera, the Local reported.

Such is the interest in the class that it has been moved to a larger lecture hall.

Erik Steinskog told the Danish broadcaster, TV2 that the work of Beyoncé Knowles was a matter of academic interest.

“We will analyse her songs and music videos. There will be a focus on gender, sexuality and race," he said.

"One of the goals [of the class] is to introduce black feminist thought, which is not well known in Scandinavia. We want to explore the kind of entity feminism is,” he said.

“Beyoncé is important in understanding the world we live in. Beyoncé is one of the biggest pop artists today, which makes her important in an analysis of contemporary times,” Prof Steinskog added.
Beyoncé has launched a new initiative through her BeyGOOD Foundation to raise funds for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. On a new page of her website, she asks fans to donate to Bread of Life and Greater Houston Community Foundation, two local organizations that “have been working with the displaced from the start of Hurricane Harvey's landfall.” Donations will be put towards “long-term revitalization” as well as the purchasing of various immediate needs for victims of the storm, including cots, baby products, wheelchairs, and more.

We finally know what inspired JAY-Z and Beyoncé in naming their newborn twins.

The rap star told Rap Radar in a podcast released Friday the couple’s new baby girl was named after the 13th Century poet, Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi.

"Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter," JAY-Z said, confirming what many have speculated since the twins' names were first announced in June.

But the process for their son's name, Sir, was a little more organic.

"Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that," JAY-Z, 47, said. "He just came out like, Sir."

The Tidal music streaming service owner also revealed to Rap Radar how his and Bey's first daughter, Blue Ivy, 5, rapped on his "4:44" album, saying she climbed up onto a stool and started stringing together a rhyme.

“She got the headphones and she climbed on the little stool, and then she just started rapping,” he said. "I was like, 'Oh, s--t.' I have (her freestyle) on my phone. Five minutes! Five minutes of her doing that."
Beyonce doesn't name names or drop dollar amounts, but she's still having a huge impact in Houston ... with the help of her longtime pastor.

Rev. Rudy Rasmus from St. John's United Methodist Church told TMZ how he and Bey are mobilizing to help Hurricane Harvey victims, but added she commonly keeps her charitable efforts undercover. Might sound weird, but he says Beyonce's just not flashy ... that way.

Remember, Kevin Hart called out Bey and Jay-Z to donate to $25k. There are also rumors she's already given $7 million, but Pastor Rudy -- who performed the Carters' wedding -- says don't expect her to confirm any of that.

As for what he and Bey are doing for evacuees ... he explained what Houston's going to need most in the coming days.

A film’s production designer “notices the canvas on which the story is being told.” That’s how Hannah Beachler, 47, describes her job to me when we speak over the phone from New Orleans, where she lives with her son. Put another way: in collaboration with a director, through meticulous research and in co-ordination with various departments, she helps define a film’s visual mood and storytelling, right down to props that never get shown on camera. Beachler’s career changed forever when signed up on Ryan Coogler’s 2013 film Fruitvale Station, which led to a string of highly-successful projects: 2015's Creed (also with Coogler), Moonlight from director Barry Jenkins, Beyoncé and Khalil Joseph’s Lemonade, and Coogler’s upcoming Marvel epic Black Panther.

The FADER spoke to Beachler about her methods, motives, and the unique art of production design. Read the part where she talks about Lemonade below.

What were your most memorable experiences during the productions of Lemonade and Moonlight?

With Lemonade, I didn’t have any time to prep. So I did a lot of what I felt: How do I make this look like not just a regular plantation? How do I make this feel like a very beautiful place and we're on a dirt floor surrounded by bricks and an old fort? It hits these ambiguous points and abstractness is what we were going for. Beyoncé has pledged to do her part to help Hurricane Harvey victims.

The Houston native released an exclusive statement Monday afternoon to the Chronicle regarding the devastating effects still being felt throughout the city.

"My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help," she said.

"I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John's in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can."

BeyGOOD, launched in 2013 during the Mrs. Carter World Tour, is a philanthropic effort that partners with global charity organizations to get people employed and provide clothing, counseling, housing, food and medical assistance.

Beyoncé posted a black and white photo on Instagram of herself holding the Texas flag with the caption, "Texas you are in my prayers." In less than a day it's received more than 1 million likes.
