Klaudia//January 27, 2024
On the heels of picking up a Governors Award at this month’s Emmys telecast, GLAAD has unveiled the nominees for the 35th annual GLAAD Media Awards.

It’s a huge list that singles out 310 nominees across 33 categories including some standouts of awards season like films All of Us Strangers and The Color Purple and buzzy TV shows Fellow Travelers starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey and The Last of Us toplined by Pedro Pascal. Beyoncé’s name is also in the mix, thanks to special recognition for her concert documentary, Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce from AMC Theatres. It’s not a new experience for the superstar as she was moved to tears in 2019 while accepting GLAAD’s Vanguard Award alongside Jay-Z.

The awards are designed to honor “media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues.” Noms for the 35th installment are selected from the window between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023. The GLAAD Media Awards will be held this year in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on March 14, and in New York City, at the Hilton Midtown, on May 11.

BeyHive Crashes Beyoncé Website Over… 'Renaissance' Film International Release Dates

Klaudia//December 19, 2023
The BeyHive were convinced that the visual drought of Beyoncé’s Renaissance era was finally coming to an end. On Monday evening, update accounts shared screenshots showing that the musician’s official website had been down for a number of hours, prompting fans to believe that a special announcement was coming. But it was only a false alarm. They had, in fact, crashed the website — only for the grand reveal to be the next set of countries in which the Renaissance tour film will be released.

“Okay, okay. Y’all didn’t have to break my website,” Beyoncé said in a trailer announcing the 15 additional countries where the film will be screened. “But I told y’all, the renaissance is not over.”

This weekend, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will be released in theaters throughout Brazil, Spain, Italy, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Hungary, Andorra, Romania, Bulgaria, Mongolia, and Taiwan.

Beyoncé Thanks Fans for Pushing 'Renaissance' to No. 1 at the Box Office

Klaudia//December 7, 2023
Beyoncé took to Instagram on Wednesday to give thanks to her fans who helped push Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce to No. 1 at the box office and she also offered some insight into the making of the concert movie.

“I am so deeply thankful to AMC and every team member who worked so hard on this film. I just can’t thank all of you enough for your support,” she wrote, in a lengthy post alongside a quick-cut video from the film’s star-studded premiere, featuring glimpses of her, husband Jay-Z, Kris Kardashian, Taylor Swift and many others.

The movie takes viewers on the singer’s most recent stadium tour, with a look behind the scenes of her performances. Renaissance made a projected $22 million in North American theaters between Friday and Sunday, according to IMBD Pro.

The “Break My Soul” singer also offered some insight into the making of the film. “It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done because of the short turnaround time,” she added. “I practically slept in the edit, color, and mix sessions. The race against time continued in order to get this film out so quickly. But it was so worth all the grind.”

Beyoncé also gave thanks to her fans. “I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from my Hive,” she continued. “And WOW! I am so touched and encouraged by the incredible reviews!!! I love seeing everyone all dressed up in their most opulent in the theaters. The mute challenges still happening, even in the theater!! Y’all are cracking me up. Please keep that energy going. I can’t wait to see what else yall do :)”

Later in the post, she acknowledged those who saw the film that aren’t fans. “I also love seeing the positive takeaways from people who were not my fans or didn’t yet know my story,” she added. “The people who had no interest in seeing my shows who have now gained a deeper understanding and respect for all it takes to be a RENAISSANCE woman.”

Tina Knowles Says Beyoncé Was In The Studio For 24 Hours A Day Last Month

Klaudia//December 5, 2023
Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles has reflected on her daughter’s tireless work ethic with the arrival of her Renaissance film to rave reviews.

Knowles took to Instagram on Saturday (December 2) to salute Bey’s movie and post about the 100 percent approval rating she received from Rotten Tomatoes‘ reviews.

In her caption, Tina revealed that the music deity was in the studio 24 hours per day in the last month leading up to the film’s release, perfecting every element of the blockbuster while sometimes sleeping there.

“Last one about the Rotten Tomatoes! Just saw this !! When you see how hard someone works and all the sacrifices they make because for the last month my child was in a studio almost 24 hours a day I was with her most of that time sleeping in the studio,” she wrote. “She only went to take her kids to school to shower and come back.”

The elder Knowles continued: “There are only a few people that understand how hard she works ! how she works on every single thing that goes out in a movie or a video or a tour . #that is why I ride so hard for her !!! She deserves every alccolade that she gets.”

Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' is No. 1 at the box office with $21 million debut

Klaudia//December 5, 2023
Beyoncé ruled the box office this weekend.

Her concert picture, “ Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” opened in first place with $21 million in North American ticket sales, according to estimates from AMC Theatres Sunday.

The post-Thanksgiving, early December box office is notoriously slow, but “Renaissance” defied the odds. Not accounting for inflation, it’s the first time a film has opened over $20 million on this weekend in 20 years (since “The Last Samurai”).

Beyoncé wrote, directed and produced “Renaissance,” which is focused on the tour for her Grammy-winning album. It debuted in 2,539 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, as well as 94 international territories, where it earned $6.4 million from 2,621 theaters.

“On behalf of AMC Theatres Distribution and the entire theatrical industry, we thank Beyoncé for bringing this incredible film directly to her fans,” said Elizabeth Frank, AMC Theatres executive vice president of worldwide programming, in a statement. “To see it resonate with fans and with film critics on a weekend that many in the industry typically neglect is a testament to her immense talent, not just as a performer, but as a producer and director.”

Despite several other new releases including “Godzilla Minus One,” the Hindi-language “Animal,” Angel Studios’ sci-fi thriller “The Shift,” and Lionsgate’s John Woo-directed revenge pic “Silent Night,” it was a slow weekend overall. Films in the top 10 are expected to gross only $85 million in total.

Flannels launches new 'Renaissance' pop-up for release of Beyoncé's concert film

Klaudia//December 2, 2023
Flannels has once again partnered with Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment for a special pop-up with official apparel and exclusive installations to celebrate the release of the singer’s new ‘Renaissance’ film.

It follows a debut earlier this year which saw the retailer’s Oxford Street flagship, Flannels X, transform into a viral shopping and discovery experience in line with the five-night London residency of Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance World Tour’ in May 2023.

The retailer now returns with an amplified iteration of the shopping concept that drove around-the-block queues the first time around, with the highly-anticipated release of ‘Renaissance: A film by Beyoncé’ once again about to drive a concert-inspired fashion craze among fans.

The new ‘Renaissance’ pop-up lands in Flannels stores in London, Liverpool and Sheffield today, 1 December – when the film goes on general release – before arriving in Belfast on 14 December.

The concept is inspired by Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ fashion extravaganza, and is a nod to the “disco cowgirls and alien superstars” who united in their droves across 39 cities and 56 shows to take part in “the year’s biggest party”.

Now, in line with its own festive creative concept ‘We Are The Party’, the selected four Flannels flagship stores will become a one-stop destination for fans to immerse themselves once again in the Renaissance spirit.

"Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé" Premiere in Los Angeles

Klaudia//November 26, 2023
Beyoncé brought Renaissance to the big screen on Saturday night, premiering her new concert film at a star-studded event in Beverly Hills.

The premiere, which took place at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater and included a dress code of “cozy opulence”, featured a chrome carpet followed by a screening of the movie. Guests were invited to take photos on the glitzy step-and-repeat — which featured Renaissance film artwork — and participate in several other photos ops, including posing with Beyoncé’s signature silver horse.

Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett, along with Janelle Monáe, Issa Rae, Lizzo, Halle and Chloe Bailey, Lupita Nyong’o, Tyler Perry, Niecy Nash-Betts, Gabrielle Union, Ava DuVernay, Lena Waithe, Kris Jenner, Robin Thede, Jeremy Pope, Laverne Cox, Marsai Martin, Coco Jones, Beyoncé dancers Les Twins and her parents, Tina and Mathew Knowles, were among the stars who walked the carpet. Following arrivals, attendees were brought inside the theater, where phones were locked up.

Beyoncé herself did not formally walk the carpet, but snuck in and out of the screening with her family once the lights went out. Inside the event, the starry group of guests mingled before the movie started, but once it began, stayed in their seats and left the dancing for the screen. Attendees were also given Renaissance-branded popcorn tins and soda cups, as well as a sample of the star’s new perfume.

Beyoncé's Concert Film Could Top A Tom Cruise Box Office Record

Klaudia//November 21, 2023
Beyoncé's much-anticipated concert film, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, was always going to be huge, from the moment it was first announced this fall. Now, early projections show just how big it may be when it finally hits theaters early next month, enough to help it make history.

Projections for its starting sum have it opening with $20 million as it hits theaters on December 1, according to Deadline.

The movie demonstrated its potential success at the box office when tickets were first put on sale weeks ago. First-day pre-sales for Beyoncé's latest music-related film since Black Is King reached between $6 million to $7 million back in October. That early indicator hinted at the movie's widespread appeal and showed that the stage had been set—pun intended—for a triumphant debut.

To contextualize the expected opening weekend figure for the forthcoming Beyoncé’s new picture, the record for the biggest opening weekend for a film in early December still belongs to Tom Cruise’s The Last Samurai. That movie launched with $24.2 million in 2003, and nothing has been able to beat it since.

If Beyoncé had opened her latest full-length feature this past weekend, it would have ranked as the second-highest-grossing movie in America. The singer’s concert film would have come in behind The Marvels, which arrived with $46 million—a disappointing low for a Marvel picture. In second comes Five Nights at Freddy's at $9 million.

The Beyhive is (literally) in for a treat.
