The World's 100 Most Powerful Women 2012

Klaudia//August 22, 2012
For nine years FORBES has ranked the 100 most powerful women in the world. These are the women who adhere to the traditional classifications of power (political and economic might) and those who have risen to the top of the social and cultural landscape. It is our annual snapshot of women who impact the world.

This year the list features eight heads of state–including our No. 1 German Chancellor Angela Merkel (plus one monarch who just celebrated her Diamond Jubilee), and 25 CEOs who control $984 billion in revenues and 11 billionaires. We feature some dozen entrepreneurs and 10 celebrities who do more than look good: they’re philanthropic do-gooders and entrepreneurial go-getters.

The New Celebrity Role Models: Sure, they’re famous but they deserve special attention for their outside work, be it ambassadors to meaningful causes and or as owners of thriving businesses. Oprah owns Harpo Productions and founded The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. Lady Gaga (No. 14): she sings, she tweets and now she started The Born This Way Foundation, with funding from Harvard University and the MacArthur Foundation. Joining the efforts of the U.N. are Shakira (No. 40), Angelina Jolie (No. 66) and Gisele Bundchen (No. 83). Beyonce (No. 32) rules the House of Dereon and Sofia Vergara (No. 75) co-owns LatinWE. Jennifer Lopez (No. 38) is a multi-tiered empire.

Forbes' 2012 World's Highest-Paid Celebrity Couples

Klaudia//August 6, 2012
It’s been a tough year for celebrity couples. From Katy Perry and Russell Brand to Heidi Klum and Seal to Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher and, ultimately, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, the love affairs of the rich and famous seem to be falling apart everywhere these days. Still, there are some couples out there in Tinseltown and beyond who have not only managed to stay strong but are also laughing all the way to the bank together. Take Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z, for example. Last year’s runners-up on the list of The World’s Highest-Paid Celebrity Couples, the duo has now climbed one spot to top this year’s ranking. Knowles, who took a break from her hectic touring schedule in 2011 to give birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter, still collects big paychecks from old hits. Besides, the singer’s new album went platinum in the U.S., not to mention her non-musical ventures and endorsement deals, which all helped to bring her total earnings between May 1, 2011 and May 1, 2012 to $40 million, according to data from the latest Celebrity 100 list. And as the male half of music’s first couple, Jay-Z isn’t far behind his wife. The hip-hop mogul made millions from Watch the Throne, his musical collaboration with pal Kanye West, and even more from the tour that followed. Add to that a bevy of non-musical enterprises such as ad firm Translation and cosmetics company Carol’s Daughter and the result is a staggering $38 million that he has brought home in twelve months, putting the couple’s annual income at $78 million.

Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love” Is Best Song Of The ’00s

Klaudia//June 1, 2012
For whatever reason, British rock journal NME has painstakingly compiled a list of the 100 Best Tracks Of The ’00s, a good two-to-three years after many other sites and magazines did the same. Perhaps there’s something to be said for letting the dust settle on a decade before tackling the raddest tunes it produced? At any rate, the publication singled out “Crazy In Love”, the 2003 solo breakout smash from the world’s most beautiful woman, Beyonce, as its top pick from the previous decade. The song features her now-husband, Jay-Z, who also ranked at #32 with the Alicia Keys-featuring “Empire State Of Mind” and #49 with “99 Problems”. See who else made NME‘s cut below. Bey also pops up at #83, along with her Destiny’s Child bandmates, via their 2001 single “Independent Women Part 1″. Other artists who made the list twice include Outkast (at #5 with “Hey Ya” and #18 with “Ms. Jackson”), Amy Winehouse (#26 with “Rehab” and #61 with “Back To Black”), The Killers (at #41 with “Mr. Brightside” and #95 with “All These Things That I’ve Done”) and Eminem (at #73 with “Without Me” and #90 with “The Real Slim Shady”). Pop divas made a strong showing as well: Rihanna‘s 2007 smash “Umbrella” is #16, Lily Allen‘s debut hit “Smile” landed at #46, Britney Spears‘ Grammy winner “Toxic” is right behind at #47, Kelis‘ booty-shaker “Milkshake” shook its way to #71 and Kylie Minogue‘s signature song “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” is #74. Other notable songs NME included: Missy Elliott‘s “Get Ur Freak On” (#36), Girls Aloud‘s “Sound Of The Underground” (#39), Kanye West‘s “Gold Digger” (#40), Daft Punk‘s “Harder, Better, Faster Stronger” (#51), La Roux “In For The Kill” (#52) and Sugababes‘ “Round Round” (#97).

Klaudia//April 25, 2012
BEYONCÉ is named PEOPLE’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman 2012 in the magazine’s special double issue, now celebrating its 23rd year. This marks the ninth time the pop superstar singer and actress has made the coveted list. She is joined by fellow “Most Beautiful Woman” Hall of Famers Julia Roberts (13 times), Nicole Kidman (10 times), and Mad Men’s breakout star, Jessica Paré, a newcomer to the list. "I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth," she tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. "I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth." The "Crazy in Love" singer, 30, and her husband of four years, Jay-Z, 42, have gone gaga for Blue, born Jan. 7 in New York City. "She's just the cutest thing," gushes BEYONCÉ, who croons one-of-a-kind tunes to her daughter and professes to "love" changing diapers. So who does her daughter most resemble? "She looks like Blue," says BEYONCÉ, who is back to her pre-baby weight and gearing up for her first post-baby concerts, Memorial Day weekend at the Revel Atlantic City. "She's her own person." "The best thing about having a daughter is having a true legacy," she adds. "The word 'love' means something completely different now." More of BEYONCÉs exclusive interview with PEOPLE, in which she shares her beauty secrets, reveals how she lost the baby weight and sets the record straight on all the rumors, is on newsstands Friday, April 27.

Beyonce's First Tweet Causes Social Storm

Klaudia//April 14, 2012
Beyonce is the biggest gainer on this week's Billboard Social 50 chart, making a massive jump from No. 49 to claim the No. 17 spot after a frenzy of media activity and social buzz following the launch of the pop star's new Web presence. The Social 50 chart ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, using a formula that blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays. The launch of the Beyonce's official Web site ( beyonce.com) on April 5 sent the social world into a tizzy. Her new site -- powered in part by Tumblr -- was announced the same day courtesy of the diva's first Tweet ( @beyonce). Her Twitter account had previously been the most-followed account without a single Tweet, with nearly 4 million followers. While Beyonce has had the account for over five years, she never said a peep until last week. And when fans have been waiting that long -- you know it's going to cause a stir. Beyonce's site is ambitious for a Tumblr. Keeping in mind the visual emphasis that has made the platform so popular, the site features a photo-centric theme that is devoid of extraneous frills and side menus. A simple black arrow featuring a slide-out menu allows visitors to seamlessly navigate to Beyonce.com and the rest of her pages, which have all also been redesigned to fit the same easily digestable and visually appealing tone set by her Tumblr. The overhaul also prominently features links to Beyonce's social properties, streamlining the fan acquisition process which resulted in a 114% increase in fan acquisition over the previous week.

Beyonce Nabs Sixth No.1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs

Klaudia//March 6, 2012
As if nabbing her first No. 1 on Adult R&B last week wasn't enough for Beyoncé, earning the No. 1 spot on the overall R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart is certainly just right. "Love on Top," the song that will always remind us of Bey's pregnancy announcement on the MTV Video Music Awards, creeps up to the top (2-1), breaking Drake's five-week stay at the peak with two titles: "The Motto" (now No. 2) and "Make Me Proud," featuring Nicki Minaj (4-5). Beyoncé banks her sixth solo No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with "Love on Top" (34 million audience impressions, up 14%, according to Nielsen BDS). The last time Beyoncé charted a No. 1 title was in 2008 with "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." With the addition of four No. 1s from her Destiny's Child days, she proudly holds 10 toppers to her name.

Beyonce Banks First Adult R&B No. 1

Klaudia//February 26, 2012
In a seeming case of chart déjà vu, Drake continues his reign on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, as "The Motto," featuring Lil Wayne, rules at No. 1 for a second consecutive week. The routine success of Drake leaves allow plenty of room to focus on a stellar feat accomplished by Beyoncé and her old-school-reminiscent "Love on Top." The song earns the Greatest Gainer/Airplay award, lifting 4-2 (30 million audience impressions, up 22%, according to Nielsen BDS). Even better, "Love" becomes Queen Bey's first No. 1 song on the Adult R&B radio tally, where it rises 2-1 in its 19th week (dethroning Robin Thicke's "Love After War" after three weeks). A veteran of charting on Adult R&B for close to 10 years as a soloist, Mrs. Carter was previously closest to the top in 2008, when "Until The End of Time," with Justin Timberlake, reached No. 2. She also placed six songs on the chart in 1998-2005 as a member of Destiny's Child, rising as high as No. 10 with 2005's "Girl." Adding to Bey-mania this week, Beyoncé's former No. 2 hit "Party," also featuring Andre 3000, rebounds 10-8 in its 34th week on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

Ask Men's Top 100 Desireable Women Of 2012

Klaudia//February 2, 2012
39. Beyonce

First Jay-Z crushed our dreams by putting a ring on it, and then shortly after her fourth album dropped, Beyonce dropped another major announcement -- that she was pregnant. But that didn't stop the former Destiny's Child singer from touring, and it didn't stop her from making this list. The hip-hop megastar may have officially retired her Sasha Fierce alter ego to take on the role of mom to Blue Ivy, but we're sure she'll remain as mesmerizing as ever.

Jay-Z, Beyonce make Billboard industry power list

Klaudia//January 28, 2012
Power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce joined a list of top music executives, led by Live Nation Entertainment chairman Irving Azoff, on Billboard magazine's first Power 100 chart on Friday. Only a handful of artists broke onto the list that sought to name the recording industry's most influential people and was dominated by businessmen and women. The selection was determined by a combination of money, market share, Billboard chart data and other information, and a team of 15 magazine editors analyzed the results to produce the list. Both Jay-Z and Beyonce made it due to numerous ventures outside their singing careers including Jay-Z's Roc Nation music, management and entertainment company and Beyonce's sponsorship deals with brands such as L'Oreal. Collectively, they were placed at No. 13 on the Power 100 list. The full list can be viewed at Billboard.biz and in the upcoming issue of Billboard Magazine, on newsstands January 30.

Blue Ivy Youngest Person Ever To Appear On A Billboard Chart

Klaudia//January 12, 2012
If you guessed that Baby Carter would grow up to be a star because of her ubiquitous, famous parents, you were probably right. If you anticipated her first song being released in her tweens, a la Willow Smith, you were dead wrong. Try within hours of her birth. Blue Ivy Carter, the bundle of joy brought into the world by megastar Beyoncé (with a little help from fellow famous dad Jay-Z) Saturday (Jan. 7), becomes the youngest person ever credited with gracing a Billboard chart, as Jay-Z's newly-recorded studio cut "Glory" -- officially billed as "featuring B.I.C.," an abbreviation of Blue Ivy Carter -- begins on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 74. (For historical purposes, this week's Billboard charts are dated Jan. 21). Taking a page out of Stevie Wonder's proverbial book on how to be a sentimental musical dad, Jay-Z recorded his precious girl's first seconds of life -- her breathing, cries and coos -- just as Wonder did on his iconic song "Isn't She Lovely," written for his then-newborn daughter Aisha. Why does B.I.C. claim the mark for youngest charted artist and not Wonder's girl? Two reasons: young Aisha was never officially credited on "Lovely" and the song did not reach a Billboard chart until Jan. 29, 1977 (when it entered Adult Contemporary at its No. 23 peak), almost two years after she was born. Blue Ivy Carter/B.I.C. also benefits from the era in which she born. Technology today allows an advantage in that Jay-Z was able to record and release "Glory" less than 48 after her birth. After almost 72 years of numbers, positions, peaks, lows, gains and debuts -- the first national Billboard chart was published the week of July 27, 1940 -- the little princess born to the reigning king and queen of R&B/hip-hop breaks the mold almost concurrently with her arrival into Beyonce's anticipating, loving arms. "Glory" arrives as the week's highest new entry on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with 1.7 million audience impressions on 54 radio stations, according to Nielsen BDS. In a stroke of chart kismet, the song marks Jay-Z's 107th career entry on the survey, mirroring the Jan. 7 birth date - in other words (or, um, numbers), 1/07 - of Blue Ivy.

Beyonce Beats Rihanna In Forbes' 2011 Top 10 Earning Women In Music List

Klaudia//December 15, 2011
Beyonce has trumped Rihanna for a higher position on Forbes' 2011 list of top earning women in music. The 'Countdown' singer is the fourth top earning female musician of the year, pocketing $35million in the last year alone. Bey was quiet for the first half of the year, but embarked on a worldwide promotional tour for latest album 4 which included a performance at the Glastonbury festival in June. RiRi trails just behind Bey to come in fifth place with an earning of $29million. The news may come as a shock to fans who bought Rihanna's sixth album Talk That Talk and paid for tickets to see her perform on 'Loud' tour. Also making the list is Alicia Keys who shares the number ten position with Britney Spears, earning $10million each.
