Welcome to Echoville: Is This Beyoncé's Newest Lifestyle & Apparel Venture?

Klaudia//July 2, 2023
In March, news dropped that the relationship between Beyoncé’s Ivy Park fashion brand and Adidas would be coming to a close, reportedly due to creative disagreements over the direction of the label. Things aren’t 100% kaput yet — Ivy Park dropped a swim collection just in time for the oncoming dog days of summer — but we now have some possible clues about where Queen Bey may be taking her merch-related talents next.

As noted by attorney Josh Gerben of Gerben Intellectual Property, Beyoncé-linked BGK Trademark Holdings LLC submitted eight applications to the US Patent and Trademark Applications, all dated June 22, for one single word: Echoville.

We have no material proof that this is the basis for a new consumer venture, but the details we do have are quite intriguing

Beyonce, Kelly Rowland team with Harris County to build homes for unhoused

Klaudia//July 2, 2023
Harris County officials and Houston natives Beyonce and Kelly Rowland are collaborating to create 31 permanent housing units in Midtown. The initiative was announced Tuesday by county leaders, who will use $7.2 million in American Rescue Plan funds to develop housing at the Bread of Life gymnasium at 2019 Crawford Street.

Judge Lina Hidalgo said an "even bigger launch" on the housing units would be announced in September when Beyonce is in Houston for her Renaissance World Tour. Beyonce's two tour dates in the city are Saturday, Sept. 23, and Sunday, Sept. 24, at NRG Stadium.

"Harris County and the city of Houston, jointly with the coalition for the homeless, have reduced homeless in the middle of the pandemic by 20 percent, and we've been able to hold that reduction," Hidalgo said in a press conference Tuesday morning. "We just did the homeless count again, so it's initiatives like this one I certainly will be supportive of it no matter whose behind it, but it's especially interesting, I think, because there are these names of Beyonce and Kelly Rowland, who, of course, have been supportive of the community for a very long time."

According to a May Point-in-Time survey by the Coalition for the Homeless, Houston's unhoused population has declined by an estimated 17 percent since 2022.

In addition to the 31 housing units, the Knowles-Rowland House permanent housing project will have case managers, peer specialists, service specialists, and support services, like transportation, mental health, physical and behavioral health support, county records note.

Solange gave a shout-out to her sister Beyoncé and “all the black women” in her life on her 37th birthday on Saturday, as she shared videos of herself with friends and family — including two that featured her dancing and riding a jetski with her superstar sibling — on Instagram.

“@cancersznisforever !!! 🎂S/o all the black women who lift me up and bring me joy every day!,” Solange captioned the carousel of videos. “All I want for my birthday is to give gratitude that God chose me to be black and woman, and to bump Yes Sirrr like 4, 5 times in a hot tub w my frennnns…🥂."

In one clip, the “Binz” singer shared a happy moment with Beyoncé as the pair rode a jetski together. The sisters wore matching black life vests as Solange sat behind her older sister. Clearly loving every minute of their time together, the famous sisters — who both wore sunglasses and huge smiles — excitedly shouted and whooped as they sped along the water.

In a separate video from the post, Solange wore a black blazer and a pair of green drop earrings with a braided ponytail as she danced beside her sister and other friends. Beyoncé also wore a black blazer with structured shoulders, and added a plunging orange silk top and a sparkly embellished necklace. Straight hair and chic gold eyeshadow completed the "Drunk in Love" singer's look.

Here's Why Beyoncé's Longtime Dance Captain Ashley Everett Isn't on the Renaissance Tour

Klaudia//June 24, 2023
Beyoncé's hit Renaissance Tour is gearing up for its highly anticipated run in the States, but there's one person who fans won't see in formation.

The star’s longtime dancer Ashley Everett has been noticeably absent from the tour, which kicked off in Stockholm on May 10. In fact, it's the first time Everett hasn't been grooving by Queen Bey's side in 17 years.

"I've been dancing my entire life," says Everett, 34. "I was one of the little girls in ballet class who was paying attention and loved it." Then, at age 17, she landed the gig of a lifetime.

"I was dancing at Alvin Ailey and I thought my dance journey was going to take me the modern, contemporary route. I randomly went to an audition and got asked to be a part of some music videos. That led to tour and then it just kept going. It was a dream come true."

Thinking back to her first videos with Beyoncé —"Get Me Bodied" and "Greenlight" off of the star's 2006 B'Day album — "It's so funny," says the dancer. "I remember on set everyone was like 'You guys kind of favor each other, are you cousins?' I was like, 'Not that I know of!'"

But over the years, and after numerous tours together, the two became like family. Beyoncé named her Dance Captain in 2009 and it was Everett who was one of two people by Bey’s side in the hit "Single Ladies" video. Though she was double booked to perform with the Rockettes at the time, "I had to play sick" to be part of the iconic trio in black and white, she says. "I made it work."
