Jay-Z Gifts Beyonce With Promise Bracelet

Klaudia//February 12, 2014
What does the guy who has everything give the girl who has everything? There are only so many gold-plated limousines, crystal-studded private jets and yachts renamed in one’s honor you can give before it starts to feel old. This year, Jay Z went back to basics, selecting a simple, mixed-metal bracelet with a sentimental message to give to his bride, Beyoncé.

Of course, he had a little help in the shopping department. Some guys turn to the Internet for gifting assistance; Jay Z relies on Beyoncé’s stylist Ty Hunter, who picked up Tacori’s new $2,390 Promise Bracelet.

“ got the bracelet and took it with him to give to Jay Z,” a source tells PEOPLE — adding that Jay Z couldn’t keep it under wraps until Friday. “He said Jay was waiting for Valentine’s Day to gift her along with a few other presents, but … that Beyoncé is always too eager and you can’t hold any secret from her, so he decided to give it to her earlier.”

The bracelet’s silver and gold intertwined motif is designed to represent the couple uniting, and it can only be unlocked with a special key, which will make it that much harder to misplace the next time she’s on the HMS Beyoncé.

Beyonce, Jay-Z Going Vegan for 22 Days

Klaudia//December 4, 2013
Ring the alarm -- Beyonce and Jay Z are working on a new joint project. The superstar couple have pledged to take on a plant-based vegan diet for the next three weeks, the "Holy Grail" rapper announced on his website, Life + Times.

"Psychologists have said it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. On the 22nd day, you've found the way," Jay Z wrote by way of an introduction.

"On December 3rd, one day before my 44th birthday, I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!" he continued. "This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a 'plant-based breakfast' everyday. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought..."

That friend was Marco Borges, an exercise physiologist and founder of 22 Days Nutrition, a vegan, organic, and gluten-free food and lifestyle company. Jay Z has called him "the world's best trainer," and Pharell says he's "a brilliant teacher of the idea that working out is not just a temporary fix to lose weight -- it's a way of life."

According to Borges' website, 22 Days Nutrition is "a partner in the journey of Jay Z and Beyonce's exploration of a vegan diet." So why now?

"There's something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas day," Jay Z wrote. "It just feels right!"
