Solange Once Used the Beyonce Card to Fend Off a Bully

Klaudia//November 16, 2013
Pulling out the ultimate sister card! Solange Knowles may not be in the spotlight quite as much as Beyonce (who is?), but the 27-year-old musician revealed during a radio interview this week that having Queen Bey as her older sister has had its perks. Back in the day, the younger Knowles fought off one particular bully by letting him know who she was related to.

"I wrote petitions to get this kid named Brandon out of school," the "Losing You" singer told Angie Martinez of Hot 97 on Thursday, Nov. 14. "He was so obnoxious and was constantly kinda bullying ."

But even after Brandon apparently called her mother a "bitch" during a class trip, Knowles wasn't seeing a change. So, who did she call up? Destiny's Child of course!

"So one day, 'No, No, No Part 2' had just come out," she said of Destiny's Child's very first hit in 1998. "I my sister is gonna come here and you're going to be really surprised who she is. I kept telling my sister and Kelly , 'You gotta come check this kid.' Of course he wasn't paying any attention to what I had to say," she said. "They pulled up and I would never forget the face Brandon made. They were coming to beat him up. It was Destiny's Child coming to beat him up. I loved it so much."

Though the single mother of son Julez, 9, only called upon the "Love on Top" singer, 32, that one time, Knowles did admit to years later using Wikipedia in order to get into a bar. (At the time, Solange lost her ID and needed a way to show the bouncer who she really was.) "I didn't feel good about it at all," she said of the situation.

Still not sure what to dress up as this Halloween?

Don't worry, baby Blue Ivy is in the exact same situation!

As trick-or-treaters across the country make the final touches to their memorable costumes, we've learned proud parents Beyoncé and Jay Z are still trying to decide on the perfect look for their daughter.

"Beyoncé has about five outfits picked out for her and she has yet to make a decision," Tina Knowles told E! News exclusively at the Angel Ball in New York City.

And if that wasn't exciting enough, we've found out the entire family is getting decked out for the spooky holiday.

"They are very excited all to dress up this year," Knowles shared at the event supporting the Gabrielle Angel Foundation.

Jay Z on Wooing Beyoncé and How Blue Ivy Is His “Biggest Fan”

Klaudia//October 1, 2013
Shawn Carter, better known as Jay Z, tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Lisa Robinson in the November issue that although his wife, Beyoncé, says that their 18-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, prefers Jay’s music to hers, he’s not so sure. “That’s not true. She does like her mother’s music—she watches on the computer every night. But my album came out and I don’t know if Blue ever heard any of my music prior to this album—she’s only 18 months old and I don’t play my music around the house. But this album was new, so we played it. And she loves all the songs. She plays a song and she goes, ‘More, Daddy, more . . . Daddy song.’ She’s my biggest fan. If no one bought the Magna Carta , the fact that she loves it so much, it gives me the greatest joy. And that’s not like a cliché. I’m really serious. Just to see her—‘Daddy song, more, Daddy.’ She’s genuine, she’s honest, because she doesn’t know it makes me happy. She just wants to hear it.”

Jay says that when he and Beyoncé were both featured on the cover of Vanity Fair’s 2001 Music Issue “we were just beginning to try to date each other.” Try? “Well, you know, you’ve got to try first. You got to dazzle . . . wine and dine.” He tells Robinson that “of course” he pursued Beyoncé, and when asked if he hadn’t been Jay Z—say, he had been a gas-station attendant and she pulled up—would he have been able to date her, he responds, “If I’m as cool as I am, yes. But she’s a charming Southern girl, you know, she’s not impressed. . . . But I would have definitely had to be this cool.” Jay confirms that the line on his latest album, “She was a good girl ’til she knew me” is about Beyoncé, and when Robinson asks if she’s not a good girl anymore, Jay laughs, saying, “Nah. She’s gangsta now.”

As for the rumors of Beyoncé’s not really having been pregnant with their first child, Jay tells Robinson, “I don’t even know how to answer that. It’s just so stupid. You know, I felt dismissive about it, but you’ve got to feel for her. I mean, we’ve got a really charmed life, so how can we complain? But when you think about it, we’re still human beings. . . . And even in hip-hop, all the blogs—they had a field day with it. I’m like, We come from you guys, we represent you guys. Why are you perpetuating this? Why are you adding fuel to this ridiculous rumor?”

Jay tells Robinson that he and Beyoncé trademarked their daughter’s name simply so others couldn’t exploit it for profit. “People wanted to make products based on our child’s name,” he says, “and you don’t want anybody trying to benefit off your baby’s name. It wasn’t for us to do anything; as you see, we haven’t done anything.”
