On the Run Tour Debuts in September on HBO

Klaudia//July 11, 2014
ON THE RUN TOUR: BEYONCÉ AND JAY Z, featuring the superstars in their first collaborative tour – and their first HBO concert event – will debut in September, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Taping September 12 and 13 at Stade de France in Paris on the only international leg of their current tour, the special will feature the superstars performing more than 40 songs.

“This is a major musical event that belongs on HBO,” noted Lombardo. “It’s going to be a night to remember.”

Although 17-time Grammy winner Beyoncé and 19-time Grammy winner JAY Z have recorded numerous hit songs together, including “Crazy in Love” and “Drunk in Love,” and have been special guests on each other’s tours, ON THE RUN TOUR: BEYONCÉ AND JAY Z marks the first time the married couple has toured together on the same bill. The tour covers 19 stadiums in the U.S. and two stadium shows in Paris.

USA Today said of the tour, which began June 26 in Miami, “The coordination is not just remarkable, it’s the absolute best way that two of the world’s best performers can deliver a show that proves why they are on top together,” while the New York Times hailed it as “a show that acknowledged their two very different sorts of success without diminishing either one.”

Beyoncé is currently appearing on HBO in “BEYONCÉ: X10,” a ten-episode series of concert performances debuting Sunday nights before “True Blood”; she was previously seen on the network in the intimate feature-length documentary “Life Is But a Dream,” which debuted in Feb. 2013. JAY Z’s “Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film” had its world premiere on HBO in Aug. 2013.

Beyonce Dropped $7 Million On Houston Housing Complex

Klaudia//July 9, 2014
Beyonce’s charitable efforts may have been questioned by the likes of Harry Belafonte, but her longtime pastor Rudy Rasmus sings a completely different tune. According to the Houston church leader, Mrs. Carter has been instrumental in his ministry.

In an interview with local news station KHOU, Rasmus shares that Beyonce dropped $7 million on a housing complex that now provides homes to 42 previously homeless people.

“She’s doing great things, matter of fact, phenomenal things,” Rasmus said in support of the singer. “ has a global platform and is doing some amazing work. And I’m glad she’s a friend of mine.”

Rasmus, who also officiated Beyonce and Jay Z’s wedding, dispelled rumors of trouble in paradise between the couple, saying that he gives validity to things “based on conversation with the person.” He also recalled Bey’s pre-stardom days of singing in his church.

“She’s an incredible human being, has an incredible heart, and has been extremely helpful in our mission, in our ministry here,” he said.

Beyoncé Tops The FORBES Celebrity 100 List

Klaudia//June 30, 2014
Who runs the world? In entertainment, it’s Beyoncé. The singer has climbed to the No. 1 spot on the Forbes Celebrity 100 after an amazing year featuring a massive tour.

Queen B played 95 shows, bringing in an average $2.4 million per stop, according to Pollstar. She also dropped her most innovative album. Titled simply Beyoncé, the album hit iTunes with barely any publicity and was billed as a “visual album” becausejay there was already a music video for each of the 14 songs. The single “Drunk in Love” has gone platinum, selling more than 1 million copies.

But Beyoncé doesn’t stop with music — she’s built a small business empire. She earns millions endorsing companies like H&M and Pepsi. She has a line of fragrances with names like Heat, Rise and Pulse, and then there’s her clothing company House of Dereon, which features jeans, shoes and accessories. All together we estimate that Beyoncé earned $115 million between June 1, 2013 and June 1, 2014.

The singer is embarking on another big year highlighted by her first world tour with her husband, Jay Z. Their On The Run tour, which kicked off June 25 in Miami, will be short (only 20 dates are set) but lucrative for the pair, who can claim the crown as the most powerful celebrity couple in the world.

Jay Z also places high on the Celebrity 100 this year, in sixth place with an estimated $60 million in earnings. That comes from a variety of sources, including his latest album, Magna Carta … Holy Grail; dozens of live shows; his growing Roc Nation empire and business ventures ranging from his 40/40 nightclub chain to his D’Ussé cognac.

Beyoncé and Jay Z Perform 'Partition' at BET Awards

Klaudia//June 30, 2014
The Carters capped off the BET Awards with a surprise performance. While the couple was not at the actual show in L.A., they pre-taped a performance of “Partition” from their “On the Run Tour,” which kicked off in Miami last week.

Jay Z spit a new verse at the beginning of the track before Bey busted out her Crazy Horse-inspired moves on the pole.

Queen Bey also went home with three awards including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration (“Drunk In Love”), and the Fandemonium Award.

The 10 installments will air every Sunday evening at 8:55 p.m. ET/PT ahead of the seventh and final season of True Blood beginning June 29.

Jay Z & Beyonce's On The Run Tour Isn't Struggling

Klaudia//June 19, 2014
Despite what you've heard, demand appears high for Jay Z and Beyonce's On The Run tour.

Multiple published reports that the upcoming Jay-Z/Beyonce co-headlining stadium tour -- set to begin in Miami on June 25 and wrap in San Francisco Aug. 5 -- is struggling, or that ticket sales are "dismal," are inaccurate, Billboard has learned.

Sources close to the Live Nation-produced tour tell Billboard that, as of June 17, the tour has racked up about $86 million in ticket sales and is on a pace to gross close to $100 million from just 19 shows. The source says attendance is on a pace to top 850,000 tickets sold, and a Live Nation rep confirmed to Billboard last night that the tour is indeed nearing that threshold. That’s a whopping nightly take of $5.2 million, and an average attendance of nearly 45,000 per show -- well more than two sold-out arena shows would generate in any given market. Numerous shows are sold out, and Live Nation cites "unprecedented" VIP and platinum ticket sales.

Two days later, Live Nation offered this statement to Billboard: "The On The Run Tour opens next Wednesday in Miami’s Sun Life Stadium to over 48,000 fans, then rolls to Cincinnati to a sellout crowd of more than 37,000 fans, and on July 1st more than 50,000 fans will pack Boston’s Gillette Stadium. With sellout nights across North America, these first three shows are indicative of the strong demand. Overall, the tour has sold well over 750,000 tickets, grossing more than $90 million, and has unprecedented VIP and Platinum ticket sales."

Those types of numbers would make On The Run one of the most successful tours of the year, with quite possibly the highest per-show average in terms of gross and attendance of any tour on the road this year. That is not unexpected; while both Beyonce and Jay-Z toured extensively in 2013, their audiences do not completely overlap, and their profile as music’s “power couple” gives the pairing the type of “event” status coveted in the live music industry.

The Woman on Top of the World
A few years ago, Beyoncé Knowles was like any other record-breaking pop star in an already crowded field. Then something changed.

If you’ve ever seen Beyoncé Knowles astride a concert stage or a red carpet, you know she is a woman with a flair for dramatic entrances. But no previous coup de théâtre prepared the world for the arrival of the singer’s fifth full-length solo record, “Beyoncé,” the “visual album” that airdropped onto iTunes at midnight on Dec. 13, 2013. For months, the music press had seethed with speculation about Beyoncé’s delayed record release, with rumors of disastrous studio sessions and dozens of scrapped songs. “There is utter disarray in Beyoncé’s camp,” the website MediaTakeOut.com hissed. It was an unheard-of turn of events for Beyoncé, whose career had been a testament to, as it were, array: a regal, orderly parade from hit to hit, milestone to milestone, strength to strength.

Beyonce #17 on Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women List

Klaudia//May 28, 2014
Forbes has released their "World's 100 Most Powerful Women" list and Beyonce ranks at #17, ahead of many leaders in the business and political worlds, including House of Representative Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.

The rankings measured 250 potential candidates in three different categories: money (obviously), global media mentions and "spheres of influence," which essentially translates to personal brand power.

#17 Beyonce Knowles
Earnings: $53 Million (As of June 2013)

Beyonce is a woman who's had no shortage of big years, but 2013 was one for the record books. The 32-year-old superstar capped off a banner year that included singing for the president, performing at the Super Bowl, and headlining the most profitable tour of the year by shocking the world with a surprise "visual album" in December. The album is iTunes' fastest-selling album ever, moving 828,773 units in the first three days. She wrapped up the "Mrs. Carter" world tour in the spring, and will hit the road again this summer -- this time joined by Mr. Carter, husband Jay Z. The duo topped Forbes list of the highest-earning celebrity couples last year, with Beyonce out-earning the hip-hop mogul by $11 million. The singer is also embracing her role as an icon of women's empowerment, declaring that "gender equality is a myth" in an essay for The Shriver Report, throwing her weight behind Sheryl Sandberg's campaign to "Ban Bossy," and sampling author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's TED talk, "We should all be feminists," on her new album.
