Beyonce Reschedules Nashville 'Formation' Concert

Klaudia//May 5, 2016
As reports last week suggested she might, Beyonce has now rescheduled her Formation World Tour stop in Nashville, Tennessee, for a date later this year.

The concert was scheduled to take place Thursday at Nissan Stadium, but will now be held Oct. 7 at the same venue. The reasoning behind the date's rescheduling is unclear at this moment.

The stadium tour kicked off April 27 in Miami, followed by nights in Tampa, Florida, Atlanta and Raleigh, North Carolina. With Thursday's event now rescheduled, the shows pick up again on Saturday in Beyonce's hometown of Houston, Texas, and will run steadily to August.

On Twitter, the Nissan Stadium replied to a story posted by TMZ that it "was ready and able to host the May 5 Beyoncé show" and looks forward to the rescheduled event.

Beyoncé's N.C. concert halted midway due to lightning

Klaudia//May 5, 2016
Queen Bey took on Mother Nature and lost — temporarily.

Beyoncé — one of a handful of stars who didn’t cancel a North Carolina show to protest a new anti-LGBT law — was forced to momentarily suspend her Raleigh show due to lightning.

The pop star was performing her latest concert in her "Formation" world tour date in the state’s capital Tuesday night when lightning struck an hour into the show, Beyoncé’s official Twitter account said.

Fans were evacuated for a little over an hour at around 10 p.m.

To fans' delight, the “Single Ladies” singer returned to the stage by 11:30 p.m.

"Thank y'all so much! The show is not over!" she told concert-goers who had eagerly waited for her return.

Earlier, the Beyhive swarmed Twitter, proclaiming that rain wouldn’t keep them from seeing the hit maker at North Carolina's State University's Carter-Finley Stadium.

“We are here rain or shine,” tweeted one loyal follower.

The concert was plagued from the onset by severe weather, as others tweeted about intense traffic leading to the show.

The mom-of-one even braved the rain before the suspension, with social media videos showing her performing in the rain at the outdoor venue.

The near-cancellation comes on the heels of Beyoncé postponing her Nashville concert and blaming construction on the stadium for the rescheduling last week.

All 12 of 'Lemonade' Tracks Debut on Billboard Hot 100

Klaudia//May 3, 2016
As previously reported, Beyonce's Lemonade soars onto the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated May 14), taking the No. 1 spot with 653,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 28, according to Nielsen Music. The set also crowns the sales-based Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, with 485,000 in pure album sales, granting the superstar her sixth No. 1 on both charts.

The release of the album additionally spurs all 12 of its tracks to debut on the Billboard Hot 100, while all 12 also appear on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (with 11 debuting), powered by mostly by sales and streams.

With her Hot 100 entrances, Beyonce makes history: it's the first time that a female act has charted 12 or more songs on the Hot 100 at the same time, surpassing Taylor Swift's previous record of 11 (set on Nov. 13, 2010, sparked by the release of her album Speak Now). On Dec. 5, 2015, Justin Bieber bested Drake and the Beatles for the one-week record among all acts: 17 songs on the Hot 100 simultaneously, as his album Purpose debuted atop the Billboard 200.

"Formation," originally released Feb. 6 preceding her Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show performance of the track the following day, leads her parade of debuts with points stemming from 174,000 in digital sales (the most of any of the album's tracks) and 6.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending April 28. While "Formation" charts on the Hot 100 for the first time, it re-enters the 50-position Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 6; it had previously peaked at No. 33 (March 19) based only on its performance at radio.

Of the newly released Lemonade songs (i.e., all except "Formation"), "Sorry" was streamed the most in the tracking week, logging 14.2 million U.S. streams, while "Hold Up" racked up the highest sales: 123,000 downloads in its first week. The sultry "6 Inch," featuring The Weeknd, starts with the third-highest weekly domestic streams (12.2 million) and sales (99,000).

Here's a look, song by song, at Beyonce's dozen tracks apiece on the Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs:

"Formation" Debuts at No. 10 on Billboard Hot 100

Klaudia//May 2, 2016
Capping the Billboard Hot 100's top 10, Beyonce blasts onto the chart at No. 10 with "Formation." The song, from her album Lemonade, which roars onto the Billboard 200 at No. 1, is her 16th solo Hot 100 top 10 and first since "Drunk in Love," featuring Jay Z, which reached No. 2 in February 2014. (Beyonce has also notched 10 top 10s as part of Destiny's Child.)

"Formation" bows with roughly two-thirds of its Hot 100 points from sales, as it starts at No. 3 on Digital Songs with 174,000 sold, having gone on sale April 25. It also enters Streaming Songs at No. 43 (6.5 million) with almost all its streaming points from Tidal, which holds exclusive streaming rights to Lemonade. (A nominal portion of streaming points is from user-generated clips featuring the song's official audio.)

"Formation," which also re-enters Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at a new high of No. 6, had bubbled under the Hot 100 and rose to No. 33 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in March, driven by airplay, when it was not available for purchase (and Tidal did not report the song's streaming totals to Nielsen; none of its streams prior to April 23 were reported by Tidal to Nielsen). The track first made waves in early February, as Beyonce performed it live during the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show (Feb. 7).

"Sorry" to be released as first single from Lemonade?

Klaudia//May 2, 2016
Hits Daily Double reported today that Columbia (Beyonce’s label) is sending ‘Sorry’ to Rhythm radio later this week, which could signal it being the first official single to be taken from the album.

Lemonade was originally released just over a week ago (April 23) after Beyonce premiered her short movie, of the same name, on cable network HBO. After the movie came to a close, Beyonce dropped the album as a TIDAL exclusive.

Less than 48 hours later, the album was in demand that much that Beyonce and her team decided to release the album to retailers such as iTunes an Amazon. However, Tidal has confirmed to Unreality TV that Lemonade will continue to stream on Tidal in “perpetuity”.

When the album was originally released, it was thought that ‘6 Inch’ featuring The Weeknd would be lifted as the first official single from the album, but it looks like Beyonce wanted to see how the album perfomed before making anything official.

Beyonce Earns Sixth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200

Klaudia//May 1, 2016
Beyonce’s Lemonade album charges in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving the superstar her sixth chart-topper. The set earned 653,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 28, according to Nielsen Music. Pure album sales comprised 485,000 of that sum. (Lemonade's total unit figure was updated in this story at 12:29 p.m. PT.)

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new May 14-dated chart (where Lemonade is No. 1) will be posted in full to Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, May 3.

Lemonade was introduced on April 23 through its same-titled film, which was soundtracked by the album’s songs, and premiered on HBO. The 12-song visual album was released by Parkwood/Columbia Records following the film’s debut, initially exclusively through Tidal. By Monday, April 25, the album -- which is bundled with the film -- went on sale through other digital retailers, but Tidal remains the only service with streaming rights to the set. A physical version of the album will be released on May 6.

Lemonade scores the biggest week of any album in 2016, both in terms of overall units and in sales.

All six of Beyonce’s studio albums have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Lemonade follows her self-titled album in 2013, 4 (2011), I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008), B’Day (2006) and Dangerously In Love (2003). Beyonce is the only act to reach No. 1 with their first six studio efforts (and the only act to debut atop the list with their first six).

In addition to her six No. 1s, Beyonce has charted four further albums on the tally: Live at Wembley (No. 17 in 2004), Irremplazable EP (No. 109 in 2007), Above and Beyonce: Video Collection (No. 35 in 2009) and Beyonce: More Only EP (No. 8 in 2014).

Beyoncé to reschedule Nashville show

Klaudia//April 30, 2016
Beyoncé will reschedule her May 5 show at Nashville's Nissan Stadium, according to the show's promoter.

Live Nation announced the news in a statement Friday. The statement did not give a reason for the delay, and a spokesman declined to discuss the reason for the postponement.

"Details about the rescheduled date will be announced shortly and Nashville tickets holders are advised to retain their tickets which will be honored at the rescheduled event," Live Nation said in the statement.

The music superstar kicked off The Formation World Tour Wednesday in Miami, days after the surprise release of her sixth album "Lemonade." The Nashville show was scheduled to be the fifth stop of her tour.

Other shows next week in Atlanta and Raleigh will go on as scheduled, Live Nation said, and Beyoncé still performed in Tampa Friday night. The Nashville show does not appear to have sold out, unlike concerts scheduled in other cities.

'Lemonade' Hits No. 1 on U.K. Album Chart

Klaudia//April 29, 2016
The sudden release of Beyoncé's Lemonade (Columbia) prevented a possible top 5 Prince takeover on the new U.K. album chart, announced Friday (April 29). Drake's “One Dance” (Cash Money/ Republic/ Universal), featuring Wizkid & Kyla, starts a third week atop the singles chart, on which Prince has six titles in the top 100.

Early-week sales flashes from the Official Charts Company showed Prince albums holding down the entire top 5 after his death on Apr. 21. But Lemonade overtook The Very Best Of Prince (Warner Bros.) with opening sales of 73,000, including 10,000 equivalent sales via streaming -- 14 percent of its total. That's the biggest percentage since streaming data became part of chart methodology last year. It's Beyoncé's third U.K. No. 1 album.

No fewer than six tracks from Lemonade became top 40 hits, with “Hold Up” leading the way at No. 17, then “Formation” (No. 31), “Sorry” (No. 33), “6 Inch” (35), “Don't Hurt Yourself” (36) and “Freedom” (40).

'Lemonade' Heading for No. 1 on Billboard 200

Klaudia//April 27, 2016
Beyonce's Lemonade album is heading for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, according to industry forecasters. The set, which was released on April 23 through Parkwood/Columbia Records, could sell around 450,000 copies (or more) in the week ending April 28, and earn 550,000 equivalent album units. If it starts at No. 1, it will give Beyonce her sixth chart-topper, and continue her hot streak atop the Billboard 200: all five of her previous studio albums have debuted at No. 1.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new May 14-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Lemonade will likely start at No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, May 1.

Lemonade was introduced on April 23 through its same-named film, which was soundtracked by the album’s songs, and premiered on HBO. The visual album was released following the film’s debut, initially exclusively through Tidal. By Monday, April 25, the album — which is bundled with the film — went on sale through other digital retailers, but Tidal remains the only service with streaming rights to the set. A physical version of the album will be released on May 6.

Beyonce & Mariah Carey Collaboration In The Works?

Klaudia//April 27, 2016
Music video director Diane Martel working on "something special" with Beyonce and Mariah Carey.

According to an Instagram post uploaded to video director Diane Martel's private account, she has something in the works with superstar songstresses Mariah Carey and Beyonce.

"Working with these two on something special can't wait to show u all!," Martel wrote in the caption to a photo of Beyonce and Mariah Carey.

As a music video director, Martel has directed the accompanying music videos to a number of songs, including Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover," Beyonce's "Best Thing I Never Had," and Nicki Minaj's "Pills N Potions."

Official word on a possible collab between Beyonce and Mariah has yet to be made.

HBO to Submit ‘Lemonade’ for Emmy Consideration

Klaudia//April 27, 2016
Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” has left the world abuzz since HBO debuted the visual album for a 27-hour window Saturday night. For those who missed it, it’s available for purchase via iTunes, or streaming via Jay Z’s Tidal platform. But the television drop makes it eligible for Emmy consideration, and HBO plans to submit “Lemonade” in the variety special category, Variety has learned.

Whether Kahlil Joseph and Beyoncé herself, the credited directors of the piece, can be joined by “additional directors” Melina Matsoukas, Todd Tourso, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jonas Akerlund and Mark Romanek remains to be seen. HBO is in the midst of working out those details.

In 2015, the Emmy for outstanding variety special went to NBC’s “Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special,” which edged out, among other nominees, “The Kennedy Center Honors” on CBS.

Meanwhile, “Lemonade” should be a shoo-in for consideration in the lighting design/lighting direction category, given the lush imagery from vignette to vignette. The frames conjured by the seven d.p.s credited on the film have drawn comparisons to the work of Terrence Malick, and the project does have one definitive connection to the reclusive director: Joseph shot behind-the-scenes footage for Malick’s 2013 film “To the Wonder.”

Beyoncé previously received two Emmy nominations, for her Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show in 2013 and for the “On the Run Tour” concert special with Jay Z.

"Lemonade" Physical Album Available Next Week

Klaudia//April 24, 2016
Sources close to the situation say that Beyoncé's new set, Lemonade (Columbia), will be available for download on iTunes and Amazon tonight, and physical product will arrive later in the week. Tidal will have a permanent exclusive on the streaming front. There is, these sources add, no plan to take the album wide on that platform.

The exclusion of Spotify, and other services with freemium tiers, for streaming is the latest manifestation of Sony's windowing efforts to limit free access, following the success with Adele's 25, which was kept off streaming services except for single "Hello" and achieved astronomical sales.

Tidal has experienced a huge bump in visibility of late, as Bey's splashy album drop (with attendant HBO opus) follows the explosion of interest in Prince's music following his untimely death. Tidal also has an exclusive on streaming of Prince's prodigious catalog. Indeed, since Lemonade was served, Tidal has become the most downloaded music app in the U.S., surpassing Pandora and Spotify, and one of the top apps worldwide.

How this big spike will translate into subscriptions remains to be seen, but the streaming field looks different now than it did just a few days ago.

Meanwhile, reports also say Lemonade instantly became one of the most pirated albums on torrent sites like The Pirate Bay. This follows a similar surge in piracy for another Tidal exclusive, Kanye West's The Life of Pablo. Will the album's availability as a legal download (unlike Pablo) stem this tide?

Beyoncé Releases Surprise Album After HBO Special

Klaudia//April 24, 2016
She did it again.

Beyoncé, who in 2013 changed the rules for how pop superstars deliver music with the surprise simultaneous release of a self-titled album and corresponding videos, has returned with a follow-up in the same vein: “Lemonade,” the singer’s sixth solo album, arrived on Saturday night after the HBO premiere of an hourlong, conceptual short film based around the music.

In a twist that played the personal off the professional, the new album and its accompanying visuals — which describe, in sometimes brutal detail, the tribulations of Beyoncé as a scorned lover — were made available to stream Saturday night exclusively on Tidal, the music streaming service owned by her husband, Jay Z. The album is not yet for sale as a download through any digital retailers.

“Lemonade” is “based on every woman’s journey of self-knowledge and healing,” Tidal said in an announcement.

The album’s 12 tracks feature contributions from the Weeknd, James Blake, Jack White and Kendrick Lamar; the songs sample or draw on a varied slate of artists including Led Zeppelin, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Soulja Boy and Animal Collective, with production from Just Blaze, Diplo and Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend. The HBO special, which was shot primarily in New Orleans, featured cameos from Serena Williams and Jay Z, with spoken-word interludes from Beyoncé, local residents and others. The videos were directed by Kahlil Joseph, Melina Matsoukas, Todd Tourso, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jonas Akerlund, Mark Romanek and Beyoncé.

'Lemonade' to Stream for Free on HBO

Klaudia//April 21, 2016
Beyoncé's mysterious Lemonade special will now be available for free upon its television debut. HBO and Cinemax will be offering a free preview weekend from Friday, April 22nd through Monday, April 25th in anticipation of the exclusive world premiere.

Beyoncé announced Lemonade last weekend with cryptic, short preview clips. She is seen wearing similar outfits to the ones she sported in her "Formation" video, which she debuted the day before her Super Bowl performance and Formation World Tour announcement.

No further details have been provided, leaving room for rumors of an album given the hour-long Saturday night timeframe. She has been subtly hinting at Lemonade with her Instagram posts for months, as revealed by the Fader, and her tour is due to begin next Wednesday in Miami.

Beyoncé has previously teamed up with HBO for a broadcast of her 2014 concert film On the Run Tour with Jay Z. One year earlier, she released her documentary Life Is But a Dream. The latter arrived around the time of her headlining Super Bowl performance and nearly a year prior to the debut of her surprise, self-titled album.

HBO will be hosting several other big premieres that weekend as well, including the returns of Veep, Silicon Valley and Game of Thrones on Sunday night following a second showing of Beyoncé's event.

Beyoncé Names Charity Partners For Formation World Tour

Klaudia//April 20, 2016
Today Beyoncé names three charities as global partners for The Formation World Tour. The alignment with the three organizations is designed to show fans how easy it is to give back, be involved in their communities, to be kind and at the core—to BeyGOOD.

United Way will have a presence on every tour stop, starting on the North American leg of the tour which kicks off on Wednesday, April 27 at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida. CHIME FOR CHANGE and Global Citizen will have their online activation program for fans in select tour markets, including Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit and London. In addition, there are three signature charity events in three cities; Houston, TX, Compton, CA and Detroit, Michigan.

BeyGOOD was launched in 2013 during the Mrs. Carter World Tour as the charity umbrella for Beyoncé's global charity initiatives. Millions received tangible help, employment, shelter and more on tour stops in North America, Australia, Europe, South America and the Caribbean as a direct effect of BeyGOOD's efforts during this time.

Ivy McGregor, Director of Philanthropy, runs BeyGOOD's day-to-day operatives through Parkwood Entertainment.

"The Formation World Tour creates another exciting global opportunity for people everywhere to BeyGOOD, pay it forward and lend support to those in need," said McGregor. "Through our collaborations with our strategic charity partners, we've created simple ways for everyone to participate. Because we believe together we can make the world better - standing, living and giving in Good Formation."
