'Texas Hold 'Em' Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs Chart

Klaudia//February 21, 2024
Pop and R&B/hip-hop superstar Beyoncé makes her debut on Billboard’s streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart (dated Feb. 24) with her first two entries on the survey: “Texas Hold ‘Em” at No. 1 and “16 Carriages” at No. 9.

The songs start at Nos. 2 and 38, respectively, on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

Both tracks were released Feb. 11, as announced in a Verizon commercial that aired during CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII, ahead of the March 29 arrival of Beyoncé’s album expected to be titled Act II, which follows her 2022 Renaissance LP.

“Texas Hold ‘Em” drew 19.2 million official streams and 4.8 million in all-format airplay audience and sold 39,000 in the U.S. through Feb. 15, according to Luminate. “16 Carriages” rides in with 10.3 million streams, 90,000 in radio reach and 14,000 sold.

Notably, the Hot Country Songs coronation of “Texas Hold ‘Em” grants Beyoncé No. 1s on seven of Billboard’s multimetric song charts as a solo artist: the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Hot Gospel Songs, Hot Latin Songs, Hot R&B Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. She’s the only act to have notched No. 1s on that combination of rankings.

Beyoncé Wanted Some 'Country Fire.' She Knew Just Who to Call

Klaudia//February 16, 2024
Robert Randolph was tooling around Florida when the call came. The musician, whose sacred steel slide guitar has powered his own Family Band albums and has popped up on records by Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Thomas, Santana, and Dave Matthews Band, was behind the wheel when his office phoned to tell him that Beyoncé wanted him to record with her.

“I said, ‘Record what — you sure you have the right person?’” Randolph recalls, noting his own jam-band style. “I’m the kind who plays and plays and plays on. It was kind of surreal.”

Shortly after her commercial for Verizon aired during Sunday night’s Super Bowl, Beyoncé dropped two songs from Act II, the second installment of her three-part Renaissance project. Details of the album, due March 29, are still emerging, but it’s widely believed to focus on country music. Rhiannon Giddens, the Americana singer and multi-instrumentalist, called it Beyoncé’s “new country record” on Facebook on Monday (on Twitter, she said it was “country-inspired”) and announced her participation, citing “my banjo and viola playing” on one of the new songs, “Texas Hold ‘Em.” “The beginning is a solo riff on my minstrel banjo,” she wrote. Other participants include pedal steel player Justin Schipper, who plays with Randolph on “16 Carriages.”

When Randolph arrived in L.A. a few months ago, he found himself in a room with Giddens, producer and instrumentalist Raphael Saadiq (playing drums and bass), and keyboardist Khirye Tyler. Beyoncé was there too.

Beyoncé Makes Her Country Radio Chart Debut With 'Texas Hold 'Em'

Klaudia//February 16, 2024
Pop and R&B/hip-hop superstar Beyoncé made a surprise announcement during Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11, releasing two tracks noticeably different in sound from the bulk of her catalog: “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.”

The former is officially being promoted to country radio, as announced in a Columbia Nashville email to stations Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. ET, and arrives as Beyoncé’s first entry on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart (dated Feb. 24), starting at No. 54 with 1.1 million in audience via 100 stations at the format in the tracking week ending Feb. 15.

The Country Airplay survey reflects songs’ audience impressions on nearly 150 U.S country radio stations as monitored by Mediabase and provided to Billboard by Luminate.

“We immediately added it a sub-power rotation, which is where we put top-trending new music,” Alpha Media-owned KBAY San Jose, Calif., program director Bo Matthews tells Billboard of “Texas Hold ‘Em.” “I want people to hear it. One of the biggest artists in the world delivered a great country record for us to have fun with, and the song is really good. We are in the business of creating excitement for our listeners and I’m embracing the moment. Plus, there is plenty of room for great artists, even from other genres. It’s a big country tent.”

Concurrent with its Country Airplay entrance, “Texas Hold ‘Em” opens at No. 38 on Pop Airplay, with its plays on 98 chart reporters translating to 1.3 million audience impressions at the format.

Beyoncé Announces New Album in Super Bowl Commercial

Klaudia//February 12, 2024
After days of speculation and online sleuthing by fans — just another week, in other words — Beyoncé used her appearance in a Super Bowl commercial on Sunday to announce that she would soon be releasing new music.

In a Verizon ad that ran shortly after halftime, Beyoncé joked with the comedian Tony Hale about doing something that would “break the internet” (i.e. Verizon’s 5G network). She ran through a few riffs, like “Beyonc-A.I.,” a Barbie-like “Bar-bey” and a presidential “BOTUS.”

Then she said, “Drop the new music,” before the commercial ended. Soon after, Beyoncé’s website updated with the announcement that a new album, identified as “Act II,” would be released on March 29.

It appeared to be the second part of Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” album project, and perhaps one with a country-rock theme, given the sound and look of two new songs, “Texas Hold ’Em” and “16 Carriages,” that quickly appeared online.

“Texas Hold ’Em” begins with rapid-plucked guitar and moves into a stomping beat, with Beyoncé rhyming “Texas” and “Lexus” and singing lines like, “It’s a real live boogie and a real live hoedown.” On “16 Carriages,” an epic ballad, the guitars swell with organ-loud percussion as Beyoncé sings about looking back at a life after losing innocence “at an early age.”

The visuals for both picture Beyoncé in cowboy hats — a feature of last year’s Renaissance World Tour and Beyoncé’s continued style signature, as seen last week at the Grammy Awards.

A representative for the superstar confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter after social media has been fueled with rumors that she is set to hit the stage to honor late icon Tina Turner.

Last month, the Australian Today show tweeted that Beyoncé would pay tribute to Turner onstage, and since then the news has circulated on X (formerly known as Twitter), leaving many to believe it’s true. Turner died last May after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

Beyonce attendes Jeff Bezos' star-studded 60th birthday bash

Klaudia//January 27, 2024
Jeff Bezos turned 60 on January 12 and he has enjoyed several celebrations to mark the milestone since – but none have been as star-studded as his most recent party.

The Amazon founder was treated to a "celestial space-age" themed bash thrown by his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, at their palatial Beverly Hills mansion, and a who's who of Hollywood was in attendance.

The billionaire's guest list included everyone from Beyonce and Jay-Z, Oprah, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom to Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and Bill Gates.

The super-private party's theme was a nod to Jeff's Blue Origin aerospace company, but it also paid homage to his humble beginnings, according to The Sun.

The A-list guests were also reportedly served a variety of food, including caviar and McDonalds, a tribute to Jeff's first job when he was 16.

Beyoncé's Latest Manicure Was Chosen By Blue Ivy Herself

Klaudia//December 25, 2023
When deciding what our next manicure will look like, we often turn to Beyoncé for inspiration: Should we go for a simple mauve, or perhaps a Renaissance-esque silver chrome? But have you ever wondered where the queen herself gets ideas?

On Wednesday, December 20, the Grammy winner delighted the world when she stepped out in New York with a minimalist, Santa Claus-inspired manicure. And according to Beyoncé's manicurist Miho Okawara, the Grammy winner's nail art was entirely inspired by her also-iconic daughter, Blue Ivy.

"When I was doing her daughter Blue's nail Bey saw what she , and she liked it!" the artist tells Marie Claire. "Bey copied one of Blue's on her nail."

And no, Beyoncé didn't influence her firstborn. "That design was all requested by Blue," added Okawara. "She is the one who chose."

In case you missed it, the finished product of Beyoncé's manicure was a festive, minimalist dream. While most of her fingers were outfitted in a regular red French tip, she chose to add a couple puffs of white polish to her thumbs, making them look like Santa Claus's signature hat.

The singer obviously loved the design a lot, dedicating not one, but two Instagram posts to the look. In a snapshot shared Friday, December 22, she flashed a peace sign while sitting on a plane, giving the red tips, which were created with Nail Labo shade TS01 "Britney Tokyo", their time to shine. While the hats weren't visible in the image, we know they're there. He sees you when you're sleeping, remember?

And while I haven't seen Blue's nails for myself either, I can only imagine they're perfect. The girl (and her mother) can do no wrong.

Dr. Christmas Reveals How He Decorated Beyoncé and JAY-Z's House

Klaudia//December 24, 2023
Dr. Christmas just shared how he styled Beyoncé and Jay-Z's home for the holiday season.

Dr. Christmas, whose real name is Bob Pranga, shared with PEOPLE what it's been like to help celebrities deck the halls for the past 40 years. The 61-year-old designer shared how “fascinating” it was to decorate the “Crazy in Love” collaborators’ home with their desired “Christmas in Africa” theme.

“I got a call from her assistant that they decided they wanted to spend Christmas in Malibu... three days before Christmas," Pranga shared with PEOPLE.

"It was a fascinating thing to me because I went out there and it was like a movie set," said Pranga. "All these people were hired to make this house perfect before they got there for Christmas Eve."

He shared how he and his team were on a tight time constraint with just the simple direction of making their home a “Christmas in Africa" theme with "beautiful colors and prints.” He revealed that the team had “less than 24 hours to prepare her home.”

“Beyoncé is just a lovely lady. She's very chill,” explained Pranga. “People are always looking for those wonderful or horrible stories of celebrities.”

“But I get to see these people as people at home,” he simply concluded.

Tina Knowles Says Beyoncé Was In The Studio For 24 Hours A Day Last Month

Klaudia//December 5, 2023
Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles has reflected on her daughter’s tireless work ethic with the arrival of her Renaissance film to rave reviews.

Knowles took to Instagram on Saturday (December 2) to salute Bey’s movie and post about the 100 percent approval rating she received from Rotten Tomatoes‘ reviews.

In her caption, Tina revealed that the music deity was in the studio 24 hours per day in the last month leading up to the film’s release, perfecting every element of the blockbuster while sometimes sleeping there.

“Last one about the Rotten Tomatoes! Just saw this !! When you see how hard someone works and all the sacrifices they make because for the last month my child was in a studio almost 24 hours a day I was with her most of that time sleeping in the studio,” she wrote. “She only went to take her kids to school to shower and come back.”

The elder Knowles continued: “There are only a few people that understand how hard she works ! how she works on every single thing that goes out in a movie or a video or a tour . #that is why I ride so hard for her !!! She deserves every alccolade that she gets.”

Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' is No. 1 at the box office with $21 million debut

Klaudia//December 5, 2023
Beyoncé ruled the box office this weekend.

Her concert picture, “ Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” opened in first place with $21 million in North American ticket sales, according to estimates from AMC Theatres Sunday.

The post-Thanksgiving, early December box office is notoriously slow, but “Renaissance” defied the odds. Not accounting for inflation, it’s the first time a film has opened over $20 million on this weekend in 20 years (since “The Last Samurai”).

Beyoncé wrote, directed and produced “Renaissance,” which is focused on the tour for her Grammy-winning album. It debuted in 2,539 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, as well as 94 international territories, where it earned $6.4 million from 2,621 theaters.

“On behalf of AMC Theatres Distribution and the entire theatrical industry, we thank Beyoncé for bringing this incredible film directly to her fans,” said Elizabeth Frank, AMC Theatres executive vice president of worldwide programming, in a statement. “To see it resonate with fans and with film critics on a weekend that many in the industry typically neglect is a testament to her immense talent, not just as a performer, but as a producer and director.”

Despite several other new releases including “Godzilla Minus One,” the Hindi-language “Animal,” Angel Studios’ sci-fi thriller “The Shift,” and Lionsgate’s John Woo-directed revenge pic “Silent Night,” it was a slow weekend overall. Films in the top 10 are expected to gross only $85 million in total.
