Black Ball Postponed Due to Hurricane Sandy

Klaudia//October 31, 2012
Put the tuxes and designer gowns back in the closet. Alicia Keys’ Black Ball charity gala has been delayed due to Hurricane Sandy.

The ninth annual Black Ball to benefit Keys’ organization Keep a Child Alive was originally set to take place on Thursday at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom, but it has since been postponed due to the storm. A new date will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all our fellow New Yorkers affected by this devastating storm,” the organization said in a statement (via MTV News).

This year’s Black Ball was set to feature performances from Beyoncé, Carole King, Angelique Kidjo, and Alabama Shakes, while Oprah Winfrey and Kidjo were to be honored for their philanthropic efforts.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards people affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

Producer Blac Elvis to work with Beyonce

Klaudia//October 27, 2012
YouKnowIGotSoul: Who are you currently working with?

Blac Elvis: Everybody now. We’re working with Chrisette Michele. A couple of new artists like B. Smith. We’re about to start with Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce and Usher. There’s so many new artists right now so we’re just trying to catch that wave.

Beyoncé Steps Out for Solange’s Album Listening

Klaudia//October 27, 2012
Where can you find Jay-Z bouncing to some pretty girly music in a sea of colorful oxfords, natural hair, and random art? At Solange’s listening event in New York City, of course. The constantly evolving chanteuse, never just known as Beyoncé’s little sister, is set to drop her EP, TRUE, on iTunes on November 27. The record is a mélange of kicky dance tracks co-written and produced by Devonté “Dev” Hynes, who giddily admitted, “There’s no one in the world I’d rather have worked with on this than Solange.”

An intimate group of press, along with Solange’s crew, came out to support her last night at a small studio converted into a modern-day speakeasy in the heart of SoHo. The charming pop of the cork every few minutes provided an extra beat to the album as Armand de Brignac (the gold bottle that replaced Cristal for Hov years ago) poured relentlessly into champagne flutes.

Solange glowed for good reason—the EP she shared with the crowd after a brief introduction was energetic, fresh, and creative, an amalgamation of nostalgic influences from the greats, with a twist of the contemporary beats that would make The Neptunes jealous. Also, perhaps because of her experience as a DJ, it came together in a cohesive way like the progression of a night on the dance floor. As the songs flowed out of the speakers, no one could stay in their seats, including hip-hop’s royal couple. Proud big sister B swept her caramel tresses into a ponytail a few minutes in and got off a couch to hit the floor with her hubby.

Beyonce's Announcement Spurs Social 50 Rise

Klaudia//October 27, 2012
As this year's NFL season nears its halfway mark, Beyonce announces her own 'Countdown to Touchdown.' During the charting week, the pop star announced via her website that she'll be performing the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII, spurring a jump in her Social 50 ranking.

The Social 50 chart ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, using a formula that blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.

The announcement, 'liked' over 140,000 times on Beyonce's Facebook page, helped usher in 319,000 new fans overall, elevating her five positions on the tally (20-15).

Tamia reflects on touring with Beyonce

Klaudia//October 26, 2012
You have performed on the same stage as Barry White and Gladys Knight as well as touring with Missy Elliot, Beyoncé and Alicia Keys. Any wild stories you can relate?

I had a great time on that tour with Beyoncé, Missy and Alicia. It was actually very much girl power. At the time I had my first daughter, and Beyoncé in particular was so sweet and very kind to her. So as a mum anyone who treats your kids nice, you instantly love them. She’s a great girl. Sorry I don’t have any dirt on any of them as all of those women are pretty amazing.

Beyonce Filming Pepsi Super Bowl Commercial

Klaudia//October 26, 2012
Beyonce Knowles and her Beyhive are still running things in this neck of the woods!

The Southern belle was recently spotted blessing Pepsi with her beautiful face, as she filmed her fifth commercial for the company, just in time for its huge Super Bowl debut.

The world renowned singer, who is also confirmed as the halftime performer for this year's big game, had the aura of her little sister Solange as she color-blocked very bright colors while on set!

With an up-do to bring the look together, the picture left us wondering what the theme is for this year's commercial...

Lady Gaga Plotting 'Telephone' Sequel

Klaudia//October 25, 2012
Fans hoping for a sequel to Lady Gaga's hit "Telephone" should know that Mother Monster has news for you: part two is on its way!

It turns out there just might be a little more musical magic left for Gaga and her pal Beyoncé to conjure up. While hard at work on her 2013 album release, ARTPOP, the singer confirmed on Wednesday (October 24) that there will be a follow-up to the 2010 Fame Monster single.

Responding to a fan, @drunky_gaga, who asked on Twitter, "I heard the continuation of telephone will be on ARTPOP! fact or fake?" Gaga replied simply: "Fact." Little else is known about the tune at this point, and a rep for Beyoncé told MTV News on Wednesday they had "no info."

It was only a few years ago that Lady Gaga and the Queen B teamed up for one of the fiercest pop collaborations in recent memory. "Telephone" not only proved to be infectious ear candy, but the accompanying clip, which imagined the pop stars as "Thelma & Louise" types with a taste for couture and murder, became an instant smash.

Dance For You Remix feat. T.I.

Alicia Keys: Beyoncé Is Better Than Mary J. Blige

Klaudia//October 20, 2012
Alicia Keys is a Girl On Fire, and her fiery new single (or duet with Maxwell) has nothing to do with it in this instance. The messy people over at 92Q put the acclaimed musician in the hot seat by asking her: who is the better rapper–Jay-Z or Nas? and who is the better singer–Beyoncé or Mary J. Blige?

Beyoncé or Mary J. I’m gonna go for Bey; I think that she actually has a really (at the heart and core of it all) if you just heard her at a piano or a guitar–it’s really spectacular how she sings.

Obama on friendship with Jay-Z & Beyonce

Klaudia//October 19, 2012
President Barack Obama says his friendship with hip-hop royals Jay-Z and Beyonce is nothing out of the ordinary.

"They’re good people,” Obama told Colby Colb of Cleveland Z107.9. “…Obviously they’re unbelievably successful, but they really are down-to-earth folks. And we talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends."

That includes offering first-time dad Jay-Z parenting advice, POTUS said: "They just had a new baby. …I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out and not leaving it all to mom and the mother-in-law."

Obama befriended the stars when "they were supporters back in '08," he explained. "Beyonce sang at our inauguration and Jay-Z did a bunch of get out the vote concerts….We’ve had them down to the White House.”

The president added that “Beyonce could not be sweeter” to the first lady and his daughters who love her music.

As for his own iPod, Obama said he's got "a bunch" of Jay-Z songs downloaded.

“Is ’99 Problems’ on there?” Colb asked.

“You know, I gotta say I go with some other stuff like ‘My First Song,’ which just kinda keeps me steady,” he replied. “It’s a great song. It reminds you that you always have to stay hungry.”

Beyonce Confirms Super Bowl Gig

Klaudia//October 16, 2012
Beyonce has confirmed that she will be performing the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII!

The 31-year-old entertainer posted a picture on her website with war paint on her cheeks with the date of the big game – February 3, 2013. She captioned the photo “Countdown to Touchdown”!

Earlier in the day, it was rumored that Bey would be joining the legendary roster of halftime show performers. She has previously performed the National Anthem before the 2004 Super Bowl.

Beyoncé to Perform at Super Bowl Halftime Show

Klaudia//October 16, 2012
Beyoncé will take the stage at the halftime show during Super Bowl XLVII on Feb.3 in New Orleans, a source tells the Associated Press.

The mom to Blue Ivy, 9 months, most recently performed alongside husband Jay-Z during his Oct. 6 show at Brooklyn's new Barclays Center.

During last year's halftime show, Madonna incorporated LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. into her 12-minute performance.

Fans can't help but wonder if Beyoncé, 31, will share the stage with any of the number of artists she's worked with like Kelly Rowland, Shakira and Sean Paul.

The official announcement is set to be made Wednesday, and Beyoncé's rep did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Beyonce mentioned in "The Style Mentors" Book

Klaudia//October 16, 2012
In her new book, “The Style Mentors,” which hits stores next Tuesday, fashion historian Elyssa Dimant surveys the world of celebrity style and breaks it down into eight signature looks.

“There are timeless fashion looks that represent themselves over and over again, and in effect, if we look at fashion that way, it takes a little bit of the trend-guessing and the mystery out of it,” says Dimant, who began her career as a curatorial research associate at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

And her glossy new book has plenty of practical advice. Here, Dimant discusses these inspiring idols — and how to achieve their looks.

1 The Siren

The Siren is the “sultry sex symbol” — “curvy, voluptuous women not afraid to show off their shape,” explains Dimant.

Think the sexual display of Marilyn Monroe and her modern-day style heir, Beyoncé.

“Beyoncé has very much inherited Marilyn’s role as all-American seductive starlet,” says Dimant. “Everything she puts on ‘I am woman, here are my curves.’ ”

Actress Angelina Jolie, on the other hand, “embodies the black widow of this category: a real dark seductress.”

A Siren’s must-haves: a sexy black dress, cleavage-enhancing undergarments, red lipstick

Bono girl's beautiful day with Beyonce

Klaudia//October 16, 2012
U2 frontman Bono's youngest daughter has revealed how her rock star dad was responsible for the greatest moment of her life: when he brought Beyonce home.

In an interview with 'Rolling Stone' magazine, actress Eve Hewson also said her father was against her pursuing a movie career.

Hewson (21) is enrolled on a prestigious New York University drama course and is living in the US city with her Irish best friend.

She described how the "greatest moment probably of my life" happened when Beyonce strolled by with her dad as she was in their pool.

She said: "I was with my friend Blue (The Edge's daughter) and we just went under water and screamed and then got out of the pool and hid. "So that's when we used Dad -- to get cute boys and Beyonce."
